The SEL55F18Z is the *Sony FE 55mm F1.8 ZA (ZEISS Sonnar T)**, a high-quality full-frame standard prime lens for Sony E-mount cameras. It features a 55mm focal length, which gives a natural perspective similar to human vision, making it ideal for portraits, street photography, travel, and everyday shooting.
It has a bright F1.8 aperture, which helps in low-light conditions and creates smooth background blur (bokeh) for subject separation. Built in collaboration with ZEISS, it uses the Sonnar optical design and T coating* to deliver excellent sharpness, strong contrast, and clean color rendering with minimal flare.
The lens is also compact and lightweight (~281g), making it easy to carry while still offering professional image quality. It is often considered a classic “sharp and reliable” portrait lens in Sony’s full-frame lineup.
